“We’re focused on creating video experiences that people want, and we’ve heard that people want different options for how and where they watch videos that they discover on Facebook. To give you, even more, ways to watch, we’re excited to roll out the ability to stream videos from Facebook to your TV — through devices like Apple TV or Google Chromecast — so you have the option to enjoy your favorite videos on a bigger screen. “
How to watch live stream content on Your Home TV?
The process to watch a video from Facebook on your TV is pretty simple. Let’s start:
- Choose a video you want to watch on your phone or desktop and press the TV symbol in the top right corner.
- Select the supported device (Apple TV or Chromecast) you want the video to stream to.
- Enjoy the video right from your TV.

“Whether you are hanging out with friends or just relaxing on the couch by yourself, we hope you enjoy this new way to watch videos on Facebook,” said Facebook’s Product Director Brent Ayrey, in a blog post.
Unlike many other streaming services, Facebook does not trap you. That means you can still keep browsing Facebook on your phone or desktop without fear of losing your video. You can even see comments and reactions, including your own, catch up on the news, discover new content, or watch more Facebook videos via the feed or a saved tab.
Is it really new innovation?
Last month, Twitter launched a new app for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Microsoft’s Xbox One to make it easier to watch live content on your TV set, YouTube has been offering this capability for a long time. And now, Facebook’s released their own variation, with a more advanced app. TechCrunch noted, this isn’t the first time, Facebook’s enabled streaming to TV. The Social Network started testing the option back in May and also added a way to cast via AirPlay from their iPad app back in 2011.So this is just Facebook is catching up.
