Jerry O’Connell Joins “The Talk” (First Male Co-Host) Following Sharon Osbourne’s ExitJuly 27, 2021
The buzz had been out there for a few weeks, and the rumors were true:
Jerry O’Connell is replacing Sharon Osbourne on “The Talk”, and he is very excited to join the panel of ladies. The announcement came on Wednesday as Jerry broke the news on the daily CBS TV talk show. He was warmly welcomed by his cohosts Sheryl Underwood, Amanda Kloots and Elaine Welteroth, CNN reported.
The Sharon/Elaine Tapes Surface
The announcement of Jerry’s new gig came out at the same time that a recorded conversation between Sharon and her co-host Elaine was unearthed by the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper.
You can hear Elaine reassuring Sharon, 68, that no one on the show believes that she is a racist. She consoled her while revealing that the whole thing was a set-up. This was taped during a hot microphone moment after the March 10th episode in which Sharon and Sheryl were having a heated argument about the famous Oprah interview with Prince Harry and Megan Markle.
Sharon was sticking up for longtime British pal Piers Morgan, saying that he was not a racist, regarding a remark he made that invalidated Megan’s mental health struggles.
The explosive argument got nasty, and Sharon exited after that and for allegedly making subsequent racist accusations about her co-hosts behind their backs.
Meanwhile, fellow co-host Carrie Ann Inaba continues her leave of absence from the talk show.
Jerry Makes “The Talk” History
Jerry O’Connell is the first male, full-time co-host on the popular television show, and the talk show executive producers are excited about adding him to the panel. They believe that as a well-known actor, husband and father, he will bring a unique perspective to the talk show.
Jerry has said that he is eager to join the table and is frightened somewhat but has also said that change is good. He believes they will have a blast on “The Talk.”
No Comment Yet From Sharon About Jerry
If you consider that Sharon Osbourne exited “The Talk” with a $10 million payday, that’s not too shabby. Still, she has made no comment about Wednesday’s announcement that Jerry O’Connell would be permanently replacing her on the show.
Sharon was photographed by the paparazzi on Wednesday driving around Los Angeles wearing no makeup and her hair undone.
Splash News mentioned that Sharon appeared looking glum.
