Christina Applegate Has Multiple Sclerosis and Gets Emotional Sometimes

While Christina Applegate seems to have lived a blessed life, she’s also been recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She admits that sometimes she gets emotional and just screams. Although her diagnosis may indicate difficulties ahead, she also has a lot to be grateful for.

A Tough Road

Since being diagnosed with this unpredictable disease “a few months ago”, Christina Applegate has been toughing things out. On the bright side, she’s had plenty of support from other celebrities who’ve been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Christina also has a friend who has the disease. Having a friend at the worst of times can help a person laugh, love and live a lot more.

Her Famous Journey

The popular sitcom “Married … with Children” was the show that helped her become a household name. Since then, she’s been active in television and film. For instance, her guest appearance on “Friends” in 2003 won her an Emmy. Her recent lead role in the Netflix series “Dead to Me” has earned her multiple nominations. Perhaps her supreme acting abilities and innate sense of humor will be helpful in pulling her through this ordeal.

Emotions Arise

Considering her circumstances, it’s understandable that Christina would be emotional. For example, she’s gone through bouts of anger, self pity, crying fits, and sometimes she just screams. But she doesn’t allow her emotions to bring her down because, to her, it’s part of the healing process. Seeing the positive side of multiple sclerosis is vital to overcoming negative emotions. For one thing, the worst problems a person endures can help them learn the most important lessons.

Other Health Problems

In 2008, she had breast cancer in one breast. Since she carries the BRCA1 gene mutation, she had a double mastectomy done to prevent further problems. And to prevent another diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, she had her fallopian tubes and ovaries removed. Life can be cruel but Applegate’s struggles can only make her stronger.

Being a famous actress may have plenty of benefits but one thing it doesn’t give someone is their health. This can be especially true as too many seemingly healthy celebrities become diagnosed with diseases. But if the past is any indication of the present, Christina will likely endure her situation with a dose of humor and charm. Other celebrities diagnosed with multiple sclerosis include Selma Blair, Montel Williams, Clay Walker, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Jack Osbourne and numerous others.
