Dr. Rochelle Walensky Shares His Views about the High Number of Covid-19 VictimsOctober 19, 2021
Dr. Rochelle Walensky recently spoke to CNN about the high number of infected covid-19 patients in the country. His main concern was how the numbers were increasing despite the government efforts to reduce infections in all the counties. However, when asked about what might have contributed to the sharp rise, Dr. Rochelle said that most counties registering a high number of infections have increased unvaccinated residents.
Besides, he said that the new wave of infections has been hard to contain using the medicine doctors have previously used. According to Dr. Walensky, most infected patients and those who have lost their lives do not appear on the list of vaccinated patients. That means they have not even received the first jab. He also said that statistics show a high number of infections amongst the youth.
That is different from the situation in the initial stages of the pandemic because, at that time, more older people contracted the virus. However, he noted that healthcare officials monitor the situation closely and send experts to vaccinate residents with high infections. He also urged people to take the covid-19 to avoid contracting the deadly virus.
Measures Dr. Rochelle Walensky Thinks Will Help to Bring Down the Number of Infections
The government and different organizations should do more to convince more people to take the covid-19 vaccine. According to Dr. Rochelle, that is the best strategy to reduce the number of infections amongst residents. The doctor noted that there had been a lot of misleading information about the covid-19 vaccine.
Some people have even been sharing unfounded information about vaccines from certain companies on their social media pages. As a result, some people have decided to avoid the vaccine fearing that what they heard might be true. That is why Dr. Walensky says that there should be more citizen education to enable people to know the truth about the vaccine.
Many residents have benefited from the information the healthcare officials have been sharing. Some people who had vowed not to take the vaccine have changed their minds after learning more about the virus from healthcare professionals.
Dr. Walensky advised residents to trust what doctors and scientists tell them because they have done extensive research about the covid-19 virus. Besides, he said people should not believe any unfounded claims because they only prevented people from getting the vaccine, leading to many unnecessary deaths around the country.
